 The Mini Excavator Operator is the machine operator who acts as the crew leader, responsible for placing utilities into residential homes, multi-family units, small commercial units and/or repairing main line utilities. This position has a wide variety of responsibilities and has the ability to handle sudden changes in the day. This person is also a support and mentor to the entire crew working alonside them day to day and natutrally follows the core values of SiteWise.

  • Backhoe/Mini Excavator Operator and crew leader, responsible for placing utilities to new residential homes, multi-family units and small commercial units OR trenching around underground locates.
  • Trench or backhoe jobs must meet all required company and customer specifications.
  • Drives truck/trailer to haul equipment.
  • Follows specifications for the job and company policies.
  • Complies with safety procedures while driving and at job site.
  • Exposes underground facilities manually, as needed.
  • Oversee laborers and/or crew member’s work and monitor time usage.
  • Conduct post-job quality checks.
  • Clean, check fluid levels and conduct a visual inspection of vehicle/equipment to assure your vehicle/equipment is performing at optimum safety, perform the required pre-trip, post trip inspections and the required paperwork.
  • Communicates with Supervisor daily to turn in required paperwork.
  • Strive for optimal production while working safely and performing quality work.
  • At end of work day, truck and equipment should be returned to shop and secured



  • Maintain valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL Class A preferred)
  • Maintain good Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
  • Working knowledge of DOT regulations(VEHICLE AND Operator Qualifications)
  • Ability to read prints and Underground Facility Location Sketch
  • Knowledge of installation of gas, electric, phone and CATV lines to buildings
  • Understanding of client and company work specifications
  • Ability to comply with the “Operator’s Manual” for your particular equipment
  • Self-motivated, safety, quality and production minded
  • Ability to read and comprehend and follow all quality/safety policies and procedures
  • Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus
